Things I realized with my Bitcoin Family
I went to dinner last night with my bitcoin family and had a few thoughts I wanted to write down for todays Culture segment. As I was writing my outline to organize my thoughts I realized “this could be an article” - so here it is.
Things I realized with my Bitcoin Family
The importance of building a local community
Being that bitcoin person is lonely when you’re the only one that “gets it”, but building up your local bitcoin meetup, or maybe just hanging out with another bitcoiner regularly and building that bitcoin family is so important its hard to emphasize enough.
Especially while traversing this financial crisis - as the saying goes, “knowing your neighbor to ask for a cup of sugar is super important”.
I’ve personally been a part of a few bitcoin zoom groups that legitimately changed the course of my life.
I’m in a new city, doing a new job, creating a new life because I’ve leaned into this opportunity, I invested in my self, my future and took a huge calculated risk - and its all because of bitcoin and seeing things clearly in real time.
I’m no longer just devouring information but instead acting on the information I know to be true with a quickness.
I can’t stress the importance of surrounding yourself with like minded individuals and making things happen - it’s truly a super power.
Action over words, every time.
If you aren’t feeling like your being pushed forward by your friends make a change and find like minded individuals, bitcoiners, in your area, or create them; its truly mind-blowing how refreshing a human interaction with people that “get it” is.
Take your relationship off line, off the inter webs and into the real world. Not everyone will be your best friend, some people aren’t who they say they are on the internet, but I’m almost positive some of the people you interact with on the daily may become people you call friends for life.
Its incredible what having a strong network can do for your.
The life you want is waiting for you, take the leap (off line).
While talking shop with my buddy Joe Rodgers, who works at Bitcoin Magazine on the physical zine, we touched on the importance of branching out to groups that aren’t necessarily bitcoiners yet but have similar world views
It’s important to reach out to groups outside of bitcoin and express to them that we have more in common than not.
Most people are open to solutions, people are “sick and tired of being sick and tired” as the saying goes. Well-rounded, healthy, individuals don’t want to just complain and feel powerless they want to fix things, they want solutions, so show them bitcoin is the solution.
Don’t be shy!
Branch outside of your echo chamber - you have other interests, hobbies, talents, outside of just bitcoin, show these people why and how bitcoin can change their life for the better.
But don’t be insufferable.
Be informative, be honest, be charismatic.
But also look good while you do it!
Present yourself in the best light possible, dress well, groom, get fit.
These things have an effect on your message. People notice the little things.
Become a shining example of being a bitcoiner.
It’s something I say consistently on the show - the solutions are here and yet the majority of people still don’t know what they are - its simply bitcoin.
Most people have heard about bitcoin in some way or fashion but they may not have heard why bitcoin from a certain angle - the angle that excites you!
Bitcoiners are big on angling every conversation into a conversation about how “bitcoin fixes this”! Now while this is true, you don’t have to go into a diatribe every chance you get but ask leading questions, incept certain concepts without saying the “B” word, be compassionate and help guide our precoiners - these are powerful tools in our tool box.
We always ask one question on our show: why are we being forced to use a money that is designed to steal from us? Why must a small group of people control the money? Why do people think this is normal? The answer is it doesn’t have to be like this, you can opt out of this madness today, you don’t have to walk yourself to the slaughter, and I think people from all walks of life can relate with this sentiment. We all feel that something is off but the complexity of our situation hides the simple solutions - saving in Bitcoin.
If these bank collapses have shown us anything it’s that bankers can’t be trusted to not gamble with your saving, nor do you even have to trust them!
Opt out, save in bitcoin and take bitcoin into self custody. Free yourself from the fiat matrix today. It’s possible! Just download blue wallet on your phone, write down your seed phrase, keep it safe, up your sat flow by solving real problems for real people. And repeat the process as you fall further down the rabbit hole.
Its really this simple
You can bootstrap yourself.
It is possible on the bitcoin standard.
Make bitcoin cool
This sounds simple but this is the hardest part. Bitcoin is still viewed as “internet nerd money but bitcoin is cool. Freedom is cool. Living a good life is cool [it’s all most normal people want]. But Bitcoin is simple. Bitcoin is predictable. Bitcoin is boring (on a monetary angle) and this is a good thing!
Bitcoin doesn’t have the glits and glamor of a get rich quick scheme.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Hard money isn’t pretty. In the uncertain world that we live in, certainty isn’t glamorous but it’s a necessity.
This isn’t the time to be gambling on lottery tickets or shitcoins. This is the time to build real wealth and protecting what you have.
We find ourselves on the verge of a financial crisis and a predictable, neutral money is invaluable and the world is waking up to this!
You still have an opportunity to build generational wealth by trading your useless green IOU’s for bitcoin - anything you put in today will be worth more if you’re able to save it for the future - and what’s not cool about that!
Building a legacy is cool. Having nice things and living a good life is cool. Don’t be ashamed about it - everyone wants to live a good life. But there will be sacrifices, there will be hard work, there will be times when the universe tests you. Overcome. Become a better version of yourself. Change the course of your destiny by taking action today. Actualize yourself, today.
What’s not cool about that?!
The life you want starts with a bunch of micro corrections - take the next best step and continue to trust in the process. Living a good life is the coolest thing on planet Earth and it all starts with your mental attitude today.
I can’t tell you what you think is cool, but do that and add bitcoin in the mix and I can almost guarantee that your life will improve.
I know because I’ve done it.
See you in the bright orange future, today.
